Do you want to be a moderator on Metabunk?

We've had quite an influx of traffic over the past few weeks, and the moderation load, while still relatively light, is getting a bit much to keep up with in a timely manner. I'm also working on other things, and doing some travelling, and I want to keep things flowing and clean here.

So I'm considering seeing if anyone out there would like to help, and be made moderators.

This would involve some or all of:

    • Approving guest posts
    • Approving the first posts of registered users
    • Deleting spam (very minimal, thanks to the above)
    • Deleting excessively rude or threatening posts
    • Editing posts to clean up formatting or excessive quotes, or adding EX tags
    • Notifying me if things are getting ugly

Ideally I'd like someone in another time zone, for overnight moderating.

Cool heads only need apply - one should never moderate in anger.

If you are interested, reply here, or PM me, or email [email protected].

Bump. Traffic growth continues apace, we've had more visitors and posts so far this year than in all of last year, about half a million unique visitors, and 17,000 additional posts. (about 150 per day). Active members jumping from 141 to 264.

I've moved to requiring registration before posting, which should cut down the workload, but it's got past the point where I can keep track of everything.

So again, anyone polite want to be promoted to moderator? There's no obligation to do any actual work, just if you happen to see something that needs fixing, then you can fix it.

(accidentally posted that as with "Planter" test account there, sorry)
I don't consider promoting rational, polite debate between opponents is . . . "joining a cabal" . . . you nor I agree with the opinions of all the Posters . . . the trouble is to maintain a neutral position and judge the behavior of a participant without bias or prejudice . . .

I'd be up for it Mick, though I'd only start when I replace my recently deceased laptop.

What do you attribute the increased popularity too?

There were a relatively small number of posts that got a lot of traffic. The RFID thing was the most popular and FEMA Coffins, and some of the quotes. Then there were several single-topical debunks, The DHS Ammo, Hurricane Sandy, Sandy Hook, Aurora, Boston, which all give a bump, and then a residual increase in traffic.

And I get a steady stream of people from the chemtrail stuff.

In any forum you can sort by Views to see what are the most popular topics.

I'd just go mad with power. Do want to help, but don't trust myself to be impartial.

Also would be uncomfortable with the false authority one attributes to the impressive label 'moderator' (I'm easy to impress).

Thanks, but since you tend to rumble with people, then being a moderator might not be the best idea.

i side with pete tar and you on this lol. id just delete joe's comments all night long... :P

if nothing else i think making GB a mod lends some credibility to the forum from the point of view that he does not agree with most of our stances on topics. however he handles himself well/uniformly.

The growth is exponential. If growth could be maintained at this rate within a very few years metabunk will become the most popular site on the web and nearly all the population will be absorbed into the Collective. Congratulations.

I would like to be invited as a moderator but I must respectfully decline in advance as there is simply too much bunk and not enough time plus I'm rude as hell and end far too many of my postings with insults. If I were to act as moderator that could force a change of those habits which serve as a necessary relief valve. I don't want to explode.

All the best for the next year and hope someone can give you a break, Mick.

Something i have to say about metabunk and contrailscience:

There will be a chemtrail-debunking paperbook released in Germany in a view days. it will be called "Das Chemtrailhandbuch" (The Chemtrail-Manual).

This forum and contrailscience were a great help making this possible, a lot of information needed to write this book was first found here on metabunk.

So "thank you", folks for your great work.

If you´re interested in the book, you can order it here (but remeber, it´s in german :-)

Why it is not allowed to ignore a moderator? I do not mind George B being one, but I'd like to opt out of seeing his posts in the 'New Forum Posts' field.
