Chicago is one of the gun free havens that con grabbers like to cite as proof for why we don't need personal firearms. Despite its having some of the toughest gun laws, Chicago still seems to have lots of violent crime. It’s a real brain drain mind boggling puzzle to the gun grabbers. They just cannot understand how the ban of personal firearms has resulted in more crime.
The good news is that NY is not letting something like rights get in the way of their protecting the people from everything.
NY Governor Andrew Cuomo so loves the people of NY that he's decided that NY Psychiatrists should be Served With Subpoenas For Patient Records In relation to NY Gun Confiscation, all in the name of protecting everyone from everything.
Whatever you believe thought don’t interpret that to mean there is any attempt by government to confiscate anyone’s guns b/c as many debunkers here have told us there is NO plan to confiscate guns. This is just one of those "coincidences" that are becoming more frequent these last few years, that’s all.

I live in England and I don't think the average Joe lives in fear. I think we feel reasonably safe from criminals and our own government.
The essential point is that you cannot, Alex jones style, compare crime in different countries. there are too many variables. Crime is categorised differently, reported differently, and detection rates will differ from nation to nation. (A good police force could show higher crime rates than a poor one) Simple geography can also make such comparisons pointless, The UK, for instance, does not have huge borders with other countries.
My 2 cents...Was the 2nd amendment not formulated at a time when the best chance of killing someone with the weapon of the day (muskets and flintlocks) was to hit them with it? An assault rifle is a rather different animal. But then it's none of my limey business! ( For balance, I've visited the USA on several occasions and never felt unsafe there either).

Interesting piece. Granted, it is by the Daily Show, but it still makes some very good points.

The one character aspect I am most proud of is being able to recognize that something can be a total load of crap.
Yea but those box jellyfish could kill you .![]()
When the government violates the rights of the people, insurrection is for the people and for each portion of the people, the most sacred of rights and the most indispensable of duties. - (Article 35 of the French Constitution of 24 June 1793.)
Ok, that's great
But on the other hand there's no right to own firearms...
And, IMO, you can't go for insurrection bare hands...
