Much like idealized figures of history, this BBC film by Peter Greenaway makes no bones that Charles Darwin as always viewed as a "bearded and benign figure, much like biblical and mythological authority".....and in this case, filmatically, it works ......to tell the story.
Whether the script is absolute truth.......is not my place or ability to scrutinize.
