Debunked: Scott Stevens, former TV weather man.

[Update] I've met Scott Stevens, and he does not refer to himself as a Meterologist. He refers to himself as a TV weatherman. So I want to be clear this this "debunk" is to put into perspective the claims of other people who repeat some of Scott's theories as if he was a working, credentialed, meteorologist. Scott is a nice guy with some rather eccentric and unscientific ideas that he honestly believes.

Since Katrina, Stevens has been in newspapers across the country where he was quoted in an Associated Press story as saying the Yakuza Mafia used a Russian-made electromagnetic generator to cause Hurricane Katrina in a bid to avenge the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima.
    [...]
Stevens, 39, who was born in Twin Falls, plans to remain in Pocatello, where his family remains. He said his family wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
It costs him hundreds of dollars each month to run his Web site, weatherwars.info, but he said that's a price he's willing to pay.
"There's a chess game going on in the sky," Stevens said. "It affects each and every one of us. It is the one common thread that binds us all together."
Although the theories espoused by Stevens - scalar weapons, global dimming - are definitely on the scientific fringe today, there are thousands of Web sites that mention such phenomena.
"The Soviets boasted of their geoengineering capabilities; these impressive accomplishments must be taken at face value simply because we are observing weather events that simply have never occurred before, never!" Stevens wrote on his Web site. "The evidence of these weapons at work found within the clouds overhead is simply unmistakable. These patterns and odd geometric shapes seen in our skies, each and every day, are clear and present evidence that our weather has been stolen from us, only to be used by those whose designs for humanity are rarely in alignment with that of the common man."

WRGB WEATHERMAN RESIGNS UNDER CLOUD CHANNEL 6 SAYS STEVENS LIED ON RESUME

    CHRIS STURGIS Staff writer
    Section: CAPITAL REGION, Page: B1
    Date: Wednesday, February 15, 1995

NISKAYUNA Weatherman Scott Stevens has resigned from WRGB (Channel 6) after station management accused him of lying about his credentials.

In a statement read during Tuesday's 6 p.m. broadcast, David Lynch, vice president and general manager, said WRGB ``hired Scott Stevens to be chief meteor-ologist based on faulty information provided by Scott'' and his agency. WRGB subsequently learned that ``Scott has never completed the necessary academic course of studies that would lead him to the official title of meteorologist,'' according to the statement read by anchorwoman JoAnne Purtan.

Lynch's statement emphasized that Stevens' allegedly false presentation of his credentials and the station's concern for its integrity was the issue, not Stevens' performance.

``During his time at WRGB, Scott Stevens has done a superb job of forecasting the weather. His knowledge of meteorology and his broadcasting experience have provided him with the background to serve you well,'' the statement said.

Meteorologist Steve LaPointe will replace Stevens on the 5, 6, 6:30 and 11 p.m. broadcasts, the station announced.

When contacted Tuesday night, Stevens, 28, an Idaho native, said he never lied about not completing his bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas.

He said he plans to finish his degree, which he originally put on the back burner in favor of a television job. ``As a 22-year-old, when you get a good job offer, that's what talks. My priorities weren't right,'' he said.

He contends that his resignation was forced by a technicality; namely, the credentials required to be a meteorologist.

``Meteorologist is a very vague term . . . and then when you get into television on top of that, it adds another whole mix into it,'' he said.

``It's television. It's different than academia. They're buying a personality. They're buying talent. That's what the TV game is about. It's about people,'' Stevens continued.

He said he has no immediate plans. ``I wasn't thinking about looking for work, to be honest with you. It's time to gather the thoughts, and goals and mind, and go on.''

Stevens said his time in the Capital Region was enjoyable. ``The people have been surprisingly wonderful. You have a lot of preconceived ideas about New Yorkers,'' he said. ``I've enjoyed living up here and was looking forward to a much longer tenure.''

Here's the story that started it:
    Quote Content from external source:

Cold-war device used to cause Katrina? An Idaho weatherman says Japan's Yakuza mafia used a Russian-made electromagnetic generator to cause Hurricane Katrina in a bid to avenge itself for the Hiroshima atom bomb attack — and that this technology will soon be wielded again to hit another U.S. city.

Meteorologist Scott Stevens, a nine-year veteran of KPVI-TV in Pocatello, said he was struggling to forecast weather patterns starting in 1998 when he discovered the theory on the Internet. It's now detailed on Stevens' website, www.weatherwars.info, the Idaho Falls Post Register reported.

Stevens, who is among several people to offer alternative and generally discounted theories for the storm that flooded New Orleans, says a little-known oversight in physical laws makes it possible to create and control storms — especially if you're armed with the Cold War-era weapon said to have been made by the Russians in 1976. Stevens became convinced of the existence of the Russian device when he observed an unusual Montana cold front in 2004.

"I just got sick to my stomach because these clouds were unnatural and that meant they had (the machine) on all the time," Stevens said. "I was left trying to forecast the intent of some organization rather than the weather of this planet."

Stevens said oddities in Hurricane Katrina storm patterns underpin his theory.

And, according to his website, so does the fact that Katrina and Ivan — the name given to a destructive hurricane that hit Florida in September 2004 — both sound Russian.

Are they taking him back in? A lot of the chemmies are banging on about the weather control aspect of the "theory". I know in the youtube universe of Chemtrails, most chemmies have "HAARP" cloud videos too in which they freak out about hole-punch/fall-clouds and altocumulus undulatus and such. Plus, the king HAARPIE seems to be the most popular chemmie on Youtube.

Micheal Murphy is quoted in the thread http://metabunk.org/threads/71-Micha...t-recent/page5 as saying:

While these programs have many different agendas, our focus in this film will uncover the weather control aspect of these damaging programs. During our travels we learned how the trails are used to control our weather, what specific technology is used in conjunction with the aerosols and how weather control is used to literally corporatize every natural system on the planet.

Murphy bringing the HAARPIES into his new project?

Stevens' involvement with Murphy's new movie is the result of a quest for the lowest common denominator who will cooperate in this latest scam. Note that previous collaborators have abandoned MJM and aren't participating? Something is amiss there......

Stevens is now selling nostrums called "Ormus", some sort of salt solution which, if chemically analyzed, will surely be found to contain large amounts of aluminum and alkaline metals, especially strontium:

Maybe not - there's a website, and links to patents & lots of flash sounding woo - the list of elements in it is supposedly:

    Quote Content from external source:

Stable, non-metallic, orbitally rearranged monoatomic transition elements selected from the group consisting of cobalt, nickel, copper, silver, gold, palladium, platinum, ruthenium, rhodium, iridium, and osmium having a doublet In the infrared spectra between 1400 and 1600 cm-1 and having a d orbital hole or holes sharing energy with an electron or electrons are described. These materials have specific application in forming catalysts, high-temperature ceramics, refractory materials corrosion resistant materials and they exhibit properties of high temperature super-conductivity and energy production. The materials are produced either from ores which do not analyze by conventional instruments for any of said transition and noble metals, or by conversion of pure metals or metal salts of said elements into the orbitally rearranged monoatomic species.

Rationalwiki has an article on it:

    Quote Content from external source:

In short, Ormus makes a person a 5th dimensional being, and, of course, such a being can resurrect the dead, levitate, and teleport herself to wherever she wants to be. Not to mention sing in perfect harmony. Although common knowledge, it is good of Joel González to stress once again the capabilities of 5th dimensional beings.

I saw Scott Stevens in M. Murphy's "Why ITWATS".
I decided to look at his current site......just to see if he was selling anything.
He is......and it's quite bizarre, as has already been explained.

He is just another "rouge scientist" that Murphy is able scrape off the internet floor to add paper-thin legitimacy to his film(s), to fool the gullible by listing their former credentials.

I have no problem with someone chasing a personal epiphany. I only wish that people would check and balance those credentials with the "experts' " current beliefs, and apply those credentials realistically, to the subject at hand.

After all, Michael Shermer came from an evangelical Christian background, and Francis Collins went to an evangelical foreground.

Stevens is in a manic phase. In a hushed conspiratorial whisper he is claiming that ordinary looking clouds are signs of "Massive Aerosol Operations" out in the pacific ocean.

To understand just how far gone he is you need only view this Q & A in the youtube comments:

Call me curious, but this I had to see. Over at the National Weather Digest indeed there was indeed an article in which Stevens participated, but not as the author:
Heene, R., R. Stevens, and B. Slusser, 2008: Electromagnetic fields recorded in mesocyclones. Natl. Wea. Dig., 32, 35-44.
    http://www.nwas.org/digest/papers/20...Pg35-Henne.pdf

Something seemed awfully familiar about the lead author's name, Richard Heene.

Turns out, Heene was the instigator of the 2009 "Balloon Boy Hoax"

    Quote Originally Posted by Wikipedia
The balloon boy hoax occurred on October 15, 2009 in Fort Collins, Colorado, when Richard and Mayumi Heene allowed a gas balloon filled with helium to float away into the atmosphere, and then claimed that their six-year-old son Falcon was inside it. At the time, it was reported by the mass media that the boy was apparently traveling at altitudes reaching 7,000 feet (2,100 m)[1] in a homemade balloon colored and shaped to resemble a silver flying saucer-type of UFO.[2][3][4] The event attracted worldwide attention.[1][5] Falcon was nicknamed "Balloon Boy" by some in the media.[6]

After more than an hour-long flight that covered more than 50 miles (80 km) across three counties,[7] the balloon landed about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Denver International Airport. Authorities closed down the Denver airport and sent several National Guard helicopters and local police in pursuit. After the balloon landed and the boy was found not to be inside, authorities began a manhunt of the entire area, raising fears that he had fallen from the balloon; it was reported that an object had detached from the balloon and fallen to the ground.[3] Later that afternoon the boy was reported to have been hiding in his home's attic the entire time.[8]

Suspicions soon arose that the incident was a hoax and publicity stunt engineered by the boy's parents Richard and Mayumi Heene, particularly following the Heenes' interview with Wolf Blitzer on Larry King Live that evening. In response to a question about why he was hiding, Falcon said to his father, "You guys said that, um, we did this for the show."[9] On October 18, Larimer County sheriff Jim Alderden announced his conclusion that the incident was a hoax and that the parents would likely face several felony charges.[10][11] Richard Heene pled guilty on November 13, 2009, to the charge of attempting to influence a public servant. On December 23, 2009, Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in jail and Mayumi Heene to 20 days of weekend jail;[12] Richard was also ordered to pay $36,000 in restitution

That's an interesting connection. Looks like Stevens was quite sensible about the Balloon Boy hoax:

    http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MindMoo...1#.UK6OkuO6x6s

    Quote Content from external source:

For the second time, a former colleague spoke out against Richard Heene, the father of "balloon boy" Falcon Heene, saying today that Thursday's balloon launch was likely a publicity stunt and that Heene has a history of putting his family in danger.

"I believe that Richard had a plan to send this craft aloft," said Scott Stevens, who used to work as a "storm chaser" with Heene. "Whether it was to leave the illusion that there was a boy on board, I don't know. [But] I believe it was a premeditated launch."

Not just a co-worker at the Science Detective Research Group in Fort Collins, Colo., Stevens said he was friends with Heene until the two had a falling out over Heene's insistence that his three young boys join them on dangerous storm searches where they "just did not need to be."

"I just thought he was beginning to push them into some things that were ethically on the edge. ... I knew at some point he would create a situation that would bring attention like he's having right now. I didn't want to be a part of that," Stevens said.

Debunkable as he may be, Scott Stevens is able to recognize airline liveries and capture them decently enough on video.

First, he captures an incoming Delta flight leaving NO CONTRAIL:

Then, he zooms in the video for a positive ID of the livery, as the plane begins to leave a contrail:

This plane is certainly trackable using Flightaware. The origin and destination, duration, altitude and speed, all of this information is easily found on anyone's computer. You could buy a ticket and fly on the exact flight which probably passes over Steven's house every day. It would make a great movie.........

Scott Stevens is jumping on to the Moore Oklahoma storm bandwagon. Here is his latest video:

I tried to make a comment about a plane he clims is a "drone", but can be identified by livery as a Southwest airlines 373 as I have on many of his videos, and find that he has decided to ban any more comments.

I have flown over his location multiple times on SWA 737s.

He makes some incorrect claims about the satellite image too.

At around the 3:20 mark in the video he starts going on about the unnatural waves in the clouds ahead of the storms.

The waves are gravity waves in the lower troposphere visible as they affect the diurnal cumulus field. Such waves are a good visual indication of wind sheer (change in direction and/or speed with height) and density inversion. Not an uncommon sight ahead of the type of front that can spawn super-cell t-storms. You have to have a density inversion for the waves to occur. This is refered to as a "cap" which will either be warm or dry air that inhibits convection because it is less dense than the surface mixed layer. The upper more buoyant layer flows over the more dense surface layer and you get waves.

The waves occur along a boundary between fluids of different density. Indeed there was a "cap" in place. It was weakest where the biggest storms broke out.

The forecast discussion from Norman NWS office that morning said:

IT APPEARS THE HIGHEST CHANCE AREA FOR SEVERE STORMS THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING MAY BE A BIT FARTHER SOUTH THAN
YESTERDAY...PERHAPS NEAR A DUNCAN TO PAULS VALLEY TO SEMINOLE
LINE. THE OKLAHOMA CITY AREA MAY BE AFFECTED...PARTICULARLY THE
SOUTH SIDE INCLUDING NORMAN AND MOORE. FIRST STORMS MAY DEVELOP A
BIT EARLIER AS A RESULT OF SLIGHTLY WEAKER CAPPING...

THE LATEST INFORMATION IS INDICATING THAT WE ARE SETTING UP FOR
ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EPISODE ACROSS PARTS OF CENTRAL
INTO SOUTH-CENTRAL INTO SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS
EVENING. ALTHOUGH THE 12Z OUN SOUNDING INDICATES A RATHER
    SUBSTANTIAL CAPPING INVERSION

Even though Scott faked his way into a TV meteorologist job, he should be able to recognize such weather features. I think he does.

He also has no excuse for not knowing how many SWA 737s fly over his location regularly.

This has to be deliberate on his part.
