As Danny pointed out: an "anal expulsion" programme - may well include gaseous releases, but lack of sprout intake would be the cause of any "lack of substance".
Gardeners may need sulphur (as explained in the unscientific version of this thread) to keep the sprouts plump, thus healthy expulsion program...
