Why are Starlink "Racetrack" Flares [Mostly] Reported from Planes?

I think I had the time wrong, used the last saved metadata time rather than the created time. that puts the aircraft much further on in its flight and therefore unlikely to be Starlink flares.

Why are Starlink "Racetrack" Flares [Mostly] Reported from Planes?

Seems to be in the right place, right time, for Starlink flares (@Mick West - sitrec doesn't seem to be 1) showing the flare band and 2) showing flare-arrows when using the kml as the camera position source)

Why are Starlink "Racetrack" Flares [Mostly] Reported from Planes?

I've just seen this one... could it be Starlink again...? Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/1csc0o6/ufo_spotted_on_flight_to_newark_nj/?share_id=lRVI-CHO_ZCPaxlTqji3T&utm_content=1&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1

The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch S03E09 - UAP Disappearing "into Thin Air"

Also there's a part in the video where the Pan and Tilt (elevation) angles for the camera are shown Pan (bearing) 346.8 degrees, and Tilt (Elevation) 83 degrees. That puts the camera pointing at the same point that the CSS satellite entered the earth's shadow.

The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch S03E09 - UAP Disappearing "into Thin Air"

Hey @jimmyslippin - I think I've identified the satellite. Looking at your video we can see that the UFO is moving in the direction of the arrow below: The direction of movement can then be put onto the annotated starmap, showing its path relativve to the consteallation Cygnus. It disappears...

The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch S03E09 - UAP Disappearing "into Thin Air"

yep, sorry, just found it and edited my post above. (cut & pasted below for thread consistency) edit. Found it. I think what the 9.31pm time indicates is the examination of the video in the HQ, not the time of the UAP appearance. I think that is earlier. And if the hypothesis that it's a...

2008 UFO Footage From Kumburgaz, Turkey

@Watcher nice post. The only thing I have to add is regarding the 'CRT Screen' hypothesis. I agree that the majority of the 'black and white disc UFO' is a wide angle CCTV feed seen on a CRT monitor, however the very last segment of the Kumburgaz video (from 17 May 2009) looks different to all...

    Another aeroplane?

I've added the source link to the FlightRadar24 playback. Can you check that it works for you?

    Another aeroplane?

Could have been either of these two. I dont think there's enough detail (shadows?) in the video to work out if the plane is flying N-S or W-E. Going on time alone, and proximity to the witness maybe the AerLingus one is more likely...

Why are Starlink "Racetrack" Flares [Mostly] Reported from Planes?

Yep, sounds very much like Starlink flares. I tried to join that Facebook group a few weeks ago but they were not accepting new members because of 'exceptional circumstances'.

Why are Starlink "Racetrack" Flares [Mostly] Reported from Planes?

Another NUFORC report from a plane that is almost certainly Starlink. Its hard to believe that these sightings are still being reported as 'ufos' in April 2024. https://nuforc.org/sighting/?id=181256 N531AW is a BE200 , but unfortunately their ADSB data is hidden...

1994 Nellis / Tonopah Test Range UFO (Sightings / Hard Copy)

Hmm, something doest seem quite right to me here. At Frame 5623 (bottom right of next image) we can see the peak of Black Mountain on a camera bearing of 219, but the camera in sitrec seems to be on the reciprocal bearing of about 040. Here's the view above recreated in Google Earth for...

1994 Nellis / Tonopah Test Range UFO (Sightings / Hard Copy)

This video has footage from two locations, called S-13 and S-30, indicated by the text on the lower left of the screen. I haven't found anyofficial or unofficial list of where the S sites are in the Nellis Complex. The only one thats known is S-4 (Not the one made famous by Bob Lazar)...

1994 Nellis / Tonopah Test Range UFO (Sightings / Hard Copy)

It would only rule out an insect if the range data is correct. The range data could be giving the range to whatever is behind the small object, such as a distant hill. @john.phil 's attachment Full.csv looks like the following graphs when Distance to UFO, Azimuth and Elevation are plotted. I...

1994 Nellis / Tonopah Test Range UFO (Sightings / Hard Copy)

This is a good segment @john.phil , very interesting. - I hadn't noticed this before but it does look very like an insect in that part of the video. The question then is - could an insect close to the camera & zoomed in look like it does in the other parts of the video due to glare from the sun...

How to see deployed Starlink "Racetrack" flares

A nice image and article about how to see starlink flares... https://catchingtime.com/starlink-satellite-swarm-from-37n-latitude/ This image is particularly interesting, showing the western 'dusk' flares and eastern 'dawn' flares. Putting those details into sitrec.... San Juan, UTAH...

Why are Starlink "Racetrack" Flares [Mostly] Reported from Planes?

I think that it is difficult to describe the motion of the Starlink flares using only words. It is difficult for everyone including pilots. I also think that as they are used to seeing moving lights in the sky that usually turn out to be planes they frame these as such and use words that relate...
