As far as I know Gazelles didn't have laser designators. I think as part of their sighting system (in the picture you can see the two grey boxes above where the pilot and observer sit) they had a laser range finder. The lasers used in these systems are not visible to the human eye. The TOW...

Leicester triangle UFO, finding the 3 helicopters...

Yes, that one does. It was the best image I could find of a 777 at night with lights on. (its not one of mine). The Tail and Wing Lights form the triangle.

Leicester triangle UFO, finding the 3 helicopters...

Sounds familiar.Boeing 777s have white nav lights on them and are regularly mistaken as 'black triangles' on Reddit/UFOs. I live under a regular 777 route (LHR- Tokyo) and see them most evenings - they do have a triangle appearance when in a dark sky.

Yes that is possible on FlightRadar24 if you have a Business subscription as you need more than 1 year of playback (unfortunately I only have Gold subscription!). It offers 3 years of playback data. You can register for a Business account (at $499 per year), and then cancel it within 7 days...

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

That's a good question. I guess its to do with, in the Gimbal example, the camera is actually moving in a circle at at the same time as rotating, whereas in your example the camera is rotating on the spot. (maybe)

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

I'd say radial is perhaps a more accurate word than concave. I think that's just a result of the aircraft turning in a circle as the stitch covers about 40° of the horizon..

Absolutely they do. Just like an A380 flying over London on approach to Heathrow exposes those underneath to a level of risk. A very small level of risk.

UK military helicopters can fly anywhere and down to any height. Here's some info from https://www.gov.uk/guidance/military-low-flying with bold emphasis from me. Also. from this factsheet... https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/military-low-flying-in-the-united-kingdom So the...

Yep. Helicopters don't have a low-altitude limit. Fixed wing do. But helicopters, and particularly military helicopters can fly wherever they want in the UK (within reason)

In my experience they do. Particularly in the Salisbury Plain area, and often during training or reconnaissance flights and exercises, which the Gazelle was used extensively for. There's nothing to suggest the helicopter was in the area for anything other than the usual reasons.

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

I'd thought this too about the heat trail - but I think it could be that the 'object' we see is the rocket exhaust. Maybe we cant actually see the rocket body due to the glare from the rocket motors. It kinds reminds me of this video which is said to show a saucer crash at White Sands missile...

Hmm. I'll have to think about that. (this is melting my brain!)

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

I think that's right for objects that are within a certain range. However as the object (in the atlas hypothesis) is effectively at infinity, doesn't that make all the lines of sight effectively parallel..? (Or at best they have a very small convergent angle). I disagree. The plane's heading is...

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

Agreed. But in both those examples the vehicle is moving in a straight line. The the gimbal video the aircraft is moving in an arc (part of a circle with a central point of rotation) as the pilot tries to get behind the object. Depending upon which side of the circle the clouds in frame are...

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

If you've already explained these points in the thread, please forgive me, but... a) hmm, the cloud parallax looks right to me for a far away object and closer clouds. Why do you think it is wrong? b) how have you determined the IR video is daytime? c) possibly.

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

@Leonardo Cuellar It is indeed very complex with lots of data points missing. The problem we all have is making assumptions and deductions upon this missing data, which makes any conclusions weak and lacking in provenance. To me - the weirdness of the object's movement seems to be due to a mix...

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

Wow, @Tim Printy , would love to see a launch someday. My parents used to live in the Bahamas from 68-72. My father used to watch the Apollo launches on TV and then after 3 minutes into the flight he'd go outside and watch them fly overhead. Stories like that have fed my interest in space &...

Could The Gimbal Video Show an Atlas V Launch?

Hey @Mauro & @Mendel et al - have you seen this website. https://flightclub.io - it lets you create and model your own rocket launch profile and models them in 2d graphs or in a 3d Model. The presets include Atlas V rockets and Kennedy Space Center as a launch site but they can be adjusted to...
