What is this? [unidentified object in photo from vehicle: lamp post]

I think you've nailed it. I was almost there! I was scouring the bridges around that area on Street View - a Google search of @royce Malphrus's name showed that it was likely to be in the area around Beaufort, South Carolina. Looking at the top of the light post on Street View you can see how...

What is this? [unidentified object in photo from vehicle: lamp post]

If @royce Malphrus still has the original image file, then the iPhone should have saved the location. In the Camera Roll on the phone, if you open the photo then tap "Details" then it should show a map of the location. Regarding the flickering, there appear to be 4 full images (and maybe part...

What is this? [unidentified object in photo from vehicle: lamp post]

Snap! :) And yes the strobing effect could be from the headlights, but I suspect more likely from the street light, given that the effect seems strongest at the top of the pole, nearer to the light source?

What is this? [unidentified object in photo from vehicle: lamp post]

It looks like a street light pole, blurred by the motion of the vehicle. The individual images of the pole are caused by the flickering of the street light. (The periodic illumination is also visible on the ground to a lesser extent.) Can you recall which bridge this photo was taken from?

"UFOs" in sky over London [internal camera reflection]

I was just looking through some photos I took in London before Christmas and I noticed this one had a whole fleet of UFOs hovering near the Shard! (The red light to the right, between the Shard and the nearby roof, is an actual light on top of a crane.) This is actually a nice example of...

Spacex Dec 23 twilight launch, "looked horizontal"

The thing is, even though it is really high, it is still roughly horizontal (by the time it reaches that height) and therefore does dip over the horizon. It's a nice illustration of the Earth's curvature, and yet Flat Earthers claim it shows the rockets ditching in the sea, using memes like...

Spacex Dec 23 twilight launch, "looked horizontal"

I think it's the idea that outer space is a long way away and you have to travel straight up for ages to get there. In fact, "outer space" starts at 100km (a little over 60 miles) above the Earth. As Fred Hoyle said, you could drive there in less than an hour, if your car went straight up. LEO...

Spacex Dec 23 twilight launch, "looked horizontal"

Excatly. To enter low-earth orbit they need to be travelling at a horizontal speed of about 17,500mph. You don't get that by launching vertically!

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

Am I looking at the right streak? It doesn't seem to match the flight path. Or is it the long trail to the right of the curved streak?

Cults, Conspiracies, and Addiction - Similarities and Differences in Interaction Approaches

Wait until you've spent all your money and maxed out your credit cards - great advice! The analogy with conspiracy theories would probably be "wait until you've alienated all your friends and family completely". Once people have used up all their capital, either financial or...

    Chemtrail Lawsuit

Some more materials have been posted on the "Aerial Discharge Class Action" website. A response to the motion to strike, which includes... more photos of contrails! They have also included copies of several of J. Marvin Herndon's chemtrail papers. Hopefully the court won't be swayed by the...

Melting Aluminum in "Open" Fires, Like in the World Trade Center on 9/11

And what about forest fires? Are they not "open-flame fires"? A quick Google image search produces numerous pictures of aluminium car wheels melted into liquid by forest fires. And you can hardly call the WTC fires just "an office fire". I'm pretty sure a fire roaring through a 100+ storey...

Melting Aluminum in "Open" Fires, Like in the World Trade Center on 9/11

Hello and welcome - please consider posting over in the new members thread. Regarding melting aluminium in a fire being impossible, how do you explain photos of aluminium car wheels that have melted into liquid in fires? Or people discussing casting aluminium using open fires? I have...

Teenager wins prize for improved supercapacitor technology

It's impossible to "run a car on water". Water is the combustion product of hydrogen. It's the end product after the useful chemical energy of hydrogen has been used up. There's no substance you can get to from water that has a lower energy, therefore you can't extract chemical energy from...

    Pre 1995 Persistent Contrail Archive

Side note: that was filmed on the famous Iverson Movie Ranch, near Chatsworth, California. The distinctive rock there is shown (from the other side) in the title image of a website detailing its history. The rock is still there, although surrounded by housing these days.

Debunked: Kaitlin Roig could not fit her 15 students in bathroom

Doesn't look spherical to me. It looks like a standard circular toilet paper holder as found in lots of public bathrooms. This type of thing but a slightly different shape. I'm pretty sure I could stand on one of those things and I am a 170lb adult. I would try it but I don't know how well...
