Debunked: Apollo 17 helmet reflection shows an unsuited stage hand [reflection of astronaut]

Just a note on times. The photo in the OP was taken at mission time 165:17:01. The photo of Schmitt I used above was taken at 165:49:31, a little over half an hour later, once Schmitt had swapped to the 500mm lens (and a different magazine of film).

Debunked: Apollo 17 helmet reflection shows an unsuited stage hand [reflection of astronaut]

For comparison, here is a photo by Cernan, showing Schmitt. The antenna is just visible, but you can't see much of the backpack. You can also see just how dirty the trousers of his suit were. This photo was taken at the same location as the image in the OP (Station 6 of EVA-3). Image below is...

Debunked: Apollo 17 helmet reflection shows an unsuited stage hand [reflection of astronaut]

I had noticed that too. I'd be surprised if the antenna itself would show up from that distance, but it could well be a bright reflection caused by the sun striking the antenna. Similar specular reflections are seen in several of the 16mm movie films taken on the moon, giving rise to various...

Debunked: Apollo 17 helmet reflection shows an unsuited stage hand [reflection of astronaut]

Also, his upper body must be slightly twisted towards the visor - the camera is firmly mounted to the chest plate, so the only way to frame the photo is to turn your body. There's a debunk by Phil Plait (the Bad Astronomer) here...

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

Flight SQ26. Looks like there was an Aer Lingus plane 8,000ft almost directly below it at the time.

    Roy Moore yearbook signature faked?

Well of course it does. Nobody is seriously suggesting that Moore wrote that part, are they? It's different handwriting, as anyone can see. That doesn't invalidate the inscription and the signature.

    Roy Moore yearbook signature faked?

Does anybody actually claim that "Olde Hickory House" is in his handwriting? It seems pretty obvious to me that those words and the date 12-22-77 are written by someone else - presumably Nelson, as a reminder of when and where she got the signature. That part of the inscription doesn't match...

Stand Up to Detect the Curve of the Earth

And once you've posted the photos from the beach maybe you could post a survey of the football field proving it is dead flat?

Clifford Carnicom weighs in on 'filaments' (likely spider threads)

Yes, it is, although producing it in bulk is still a challenge. But can Clifford (or anyone) explain what anyone would gain by scattering miles and miles of expensive artificial silk all over a cornfield in Ireland where it is only encountered by (literally) one man and his dog?

    How Fake News Goes Viral

Yes, but it's done by Google accounts too. If I search for something on my work computer I get ads for the same thing on my home computer and my mobile. It's kind of annoying as I have to do a lot of price checking etc at work so I get ads for things I have no personal interest in at all.

    How Fake News Goes Viral

I absolutely agree with that. Three or four years ago I set up a Facebook account to look at conspiracy stuff (I wanted to keep it separate from my main account). The more I looked at, the more extreme and crazy the recommendations that FB served up to me.

Zeke's Theory on "energy weapons" causing wildfires as part of Agenda 21

Agenda 21 is (or rather was, as it's pretty old news - drafted 25 years ago!) a voluntary framework for sustainable development. The whole document is publicly available and contains absolutely none of the sinister things that conspiracy theorists love to attribute to it. As you will find out...

Fontus - self-filling water bottle (indiegogo scam campaign?)

I see that Fontus's Facebook page is now plugging a sort-of related product, the Mitte "smart home water system". Mitte is the first of its kind smart home water system that purifies and enhances water through a process inspired by the natural water cycle. It works in two simple steps...

Unidentified Satellite/Star in Southern Sweden 2011?

Sounds plausible. Capella was the other option I mentioned as being in roughly the right direction. Possible, but the twinkling of stars really does flash different colours (typically green and red). Sometimes on a clear night when I am cycling home from the station my attention is caught by a...

Tehran Plasco Highrise Fire And Collapse - 9/11 WTC7, WTC1&2 Comparisons

I assume these are the "charges" that @izz is referring to? However, you can clearly see that the collapse begins *before* this supposed "charge": It appears to me that the initial collapse could be triggered by the pressure of the water from the hose: a collapse begins from the point...

Unidentified Satellite/Star in Southern Sweden 2011?

Vega would have been in the western sky at that time. Capella is another "twinkly" star that is a possibility, but I still think Jupiter is the more likely object.

Unidentified Satellite/Star in Southern Sweden 2011?

My first thought when somebody mentions a light that appears to blink or flash in the sky is the star Arcturus, as that has a noticeable green/red flashing effect when viewed low in the sky, which is quite eyecatching. You don't mention exactly where or at what time you made the observation...

    Strange looking plane

Actually, Planefinder.net identifies this plane on January 2 2017 at the time and location of the photograph: As stated above it is a Cessna Citation 560, with registration G-CIEL. It's owned by Luxaviation, a British private jet charter company. Compare the stripes on the nose and the...
