On cell phones I don't trust the EXIF 100% The image we see shows everything from the close plants to the clouds as in acceptable focus. This makes me think the image is hyperfocal

Cell phone cameras are very wide angle with very small sensors and are hyperfocal almost always. I wouldn't trust those calculations.

Better terrain data? We have the google maps location to the meter, and there's not going to be any terrain data from a iPhone 13 photo. Has anyone filled in the form? I don't have a none free domain email account I am willing to share. @Mick West I assume you have?

The original photo should be shared so any analysis can be repeated. I have severe doubts about this analysis anyway, the demo images sho wmodification from the twitter images. Share the original photo if you want this analysis to be taken seriously in my opinion.

My feeling is the white parts are from a structure down the ridge behind the grass somewhat the leftmost "edge" seems straight and defined. Something like roughly like this

They are misinterpreting the "UFO" as being above the edge of the mountain that you can see as the haze creates an artificial cutoff which the bright reflections cut through. The illusion is that because you can only see that far that's where the lights are.

Looks like a wide angle with Monarch butterflies to me, you can see 4-5 butterflies in the upper branches, largish numbers like this are usually indicative of a migratory species like Monarchs. So the flying one is just part of the migration flock.

Again the synchronicity is beautiful. But this means the date we were given by the witness was 3 days out?

Looking at the video it's possibly a mix of Scintillation, which is variable depending on atmospheric conditions and the colour changes are more noticeable on bright objects, eg Sirius etc and also when they are out of focus. White balance issues Compression artefacts made worse by the phone...

Like I say I agree with the example, what I am saying is that an easy "de-debunk" would be to show the images I have shown where the underside appears much lighter. I am pointing out reasons why the underside might not show as as light as it shows in some online images to head off this...
