What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

I oriented the satellite pass with the 2s stars Alfkirk and Cef 11 to get a better direction/path for it. With this in mind and expanding the 2 satellites are maybe potentials, NOAA 19 and possibly jlin-01 gaofen 3j Would anyone have links to relevant TLEs for these?

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

Let's say we "assume" the object is the plane at 25000ft barometric, we know it is right by Cep 11 which at that time is at 42.07 degrees apparent alt So we can work out with Pythagoras (accounting for the for the curve of the earth) an approximate circle of possible locations from the GPS...

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

@flarkey is the expert I cannot see a sat on in-the-sky.org that matches at that time, there's Starlink (2121) that is close but its moving in the opposite direction. Could be the location is off by enough to make it matter, but I don't see anything close on that trajectory either.

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

It's a bit of sidetrack but they could have increased the fuel capacity as part of the conversion of the 707-300 but it still probably doesn't take much longer than that, but we've established that if it were boom operator training the timing is not related to a refuel, although a refuel may...

Ah so they just fly along and try boom operation over and over etc, with different trainees etc.

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

I tracked the E6 from when it vanishes from ADS-B ~2:04 am UTC till when it reappears on ADS-B which is around 03:36 am UTC which is a delta of 1h:32m. You can see (top left) that when it reappears it is still very close to the same tanker aircraft BOLT147. This indicates that the refuel process...

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

I took the orginal video (50FPS) and synced the strobes with the video (29.97) @flarkey found of the E-6B then slowed it down to 25% of the original playback. With the interpolation between different frame rates they drift a little, but the match is there.

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

It's hard to say with a plane track not too much wriggle room I'd guess if we are matching to individual stars What I do know is the start of the video is framed on here https://nova.astrometry.net/user_images/8541920#annotated And the end is here near Cepheus...

Your exact location allows us to correlate what you saw with the position of the stars in your video.

Episode 57: Alex Dietrich: Clouds, Critical Thinking, and UFOs

It's totally possible the instruments were all working as expected but the operators made some errant assumptions that meant the solution was not apparent at the time.

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

Can anyone find a light diagram for the E-6B? @flarkey your original photo is not an E-6B btw it's the E-6

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_E-6_Mercury Interesting The E-6 cannot use the probe-and-drogue in-flight refueling method that most other US Navy aircraft use. It uses a flying boom receptacle on the upper-forward fuselage, making it, like the USN's Boeing P-8 Poseidon aircraft, reliant...

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

Not for the 1st time I find myself wishing there was some way of loading KMLs into Stellarium, or having Google Earth show a specific night sky

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

So one large jet being refueled by another and the refuelling aircraft has it's nav lights off and the cluster of lights is the refuelling drogue, perhaps in air refueling at night has a protocol where the only lit thing is the drogue to avoid mistakes as to which part is the fuel drogue?

Episode 57: Alex Dietrich: Clouds, Critical Thinking, and UFOs

From a purely technical standpoint I'd be interested in her take on ATFLIR operation if she ever used it. But it seems even pilots are not really sure how it works and I'll bet they are not sure what they can/can't say about it's operation.

What kind of aircraft displays these kind of lights?

If refuelling is happening here and the green light / red strobe plane is the tanker, it seems odd the other lights are in front? Could some other formation flying test be happening here?
