NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

It's a term that could be both, simulated implies more to me that its data only rather than some device that creates a fake radar response, but the US Military can be odd with it's terms.

NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

If it were a real track, of an object visible to ATFLIR then they would SLAVE and see something. Yes it could be that it was a glitched RADAR track and this was a theory before this release, but given that the WSO had reason to mention COMPTUEX, we now have concrete reason for there being a...

NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

Yeah I meant by exercise controller, whatever was controlling the exercise. Human/computer etc. There should be a log of that track insertion somewhere I imagine?

Explained: UFOs over Melbourne April 2022 [Roulettes Aerobatic Planes]

Can't speak for Flarkey but I found the location independently at the same time Flarkey (he beat me to the post) but knowing it was Melbourne and then at some point in the second video a Coles warehouse sign is visible, they obviously partner with LINFOX for the warehousing so a Google Maps...

NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

Source: https://twitter.com/OMApproach/status/1511850016301891589 This tweet contains a partially redacted description of the GIMBAL encounter. For me the main standouts seem to be that they claim to have a stable track file and also that they thought that it was a simulated targets as part...

Explained: UFOs over Melbourne April 2022 [Roulettes Aerobatic Planes]

Yeah, sorry, that is at the time the video was taken as said by the observer. I got distracted by work as I was posting and hit submit.

Explained: UFOs over Melbourne April 2022 [Roulettes Aerobatic Planes]

This is why uploading original footage with metadata is so important. Sure have a YouTube version for ease of sharing etc, but also have a google drive etc version of the original file. If we'd had the file from the phone, we'd know exact date/time and location likely. Independent of eye...

Explained: UFOs over Melbourne April 2022 [Roulettes Aerobatic Planes]

Air display teams often do sit recs before events, they also sometimes fly into local airbases ahead of the time etc. Getting the location would be key.

A Tear In The Sky - Nimitz/Tic-Tac/Catalina UFO Documentary

Yeah it's all about how you know there is something to point the cameras at in the 1st place, and then how you point them accurately. So you need a system that's monitoring the airspace some how, that isn't RADAR. Perhaps a fisheye camera that then talks to the gimbal mounted telescopes. But...

A Tear In The Sky - Nimitz/Tic-Tac/Catalina UFO Documentary

The whole thing is a bit ludicrous really. Lets look a the issues a bit. Entertainingly the idea of setting up an observatory to try and detect and photograph UFOs, this effort and the proposals of Avi Loeb "Galileo Project" are all very similar to the problem that the US Navy targeting pods...

Study: The Effect of watching CNN instead of Fox News

It's called expecting people to read. This is why Mick's videos are good, but producing videos that are short, well presented and accurate is a time consuming thing to do.

Sitrec - Metabunk's Situation Recreation Tool - Development Discussion

@Mick West I know JS to a reasonable level if you need some legwork on the simpler things, however I also know it can be harder to set things up for collaborative development than to just solo it, but the offer is there if you need it.

A Tear In The Sky - Nimitz/Tic-Tac/Catalina UFO Documentary

In all that gear on the roof I don't see one telephoto optical lens on a mirrorless/DSLR/video camera. It all looks like thermal cameras to me, they have binoculars of course, but surely you'd want optical/thermal/MWIR on the same LOS for ruling out things. We all know things can look very...
