The incident report notes roughly where the incident took place. It doesn't seem to match with Straun The location noted below is the middle of no where. Locate the A9 through Pitlochry, then measure 20 miles north, and you will see what I mean Here it is:

I downloaded the National Archive records on the incident. There are three pages on the incident including what seems to be the hand written incident report. Here are the pages on the Calvine UFO from the National Archive:

I know, that's why I had deleted it. It's a farm runway or something according to the review I read. Possible I suppose, but not likely

Theories Ive seen so far: 1) Kite 2) Possible hill peak through fog 3) Reflection of a rock in water 4) Model hanging from a string below the tree branch 5) Balloon (Like the the columbia diamond UFO one was likely a balloon from a balloon festival)

But again, the clouds above what would have to be the mirror line do not mirror the clouds in the reflection below, assuming their is a reflection. I just dont buy this reflection theory based on the image itself.

But a reflection needs a pool of water, where is that? the back drop is clouds So if it is a reflection, it has to have been taken and added to a pic of a cloudy background

But it's not simple though, they would have to take a pic of a rock reflecting in the water, that doesn't mirror like it is a reflection. Then ad a double exposure of it against another pic with clouds and a plane flying by Hanging something from a tree is far simpler BTW, anyone have a link...

Also, how do we know what we are seeing is objects against all cloud as opposed to objects against clouds(top half) and fog (bottom half) Say for example a situation like below where a distant hill is visible amongst the cloud and fog. And a plane is say flying in the valley

How would you see that naturally as a reflection. There is no lake visible. Makes no sense. Nor does it really look completely like a reflection as the bottom and top don't really match

If it's a hoax, I would lean more to a simpler answer, like a model hanging from the tree in the foreground. No need for reflections and double exposures to make a hoax.

Also, look at the left wing of the aircraft. It seems to have the same shading effect as the large object but in reverse. ie bottom half(wing) lighter as opposed to the top half of the object which is lighter I guess it might be that the left wing is in some cloud or fog. I say that, because I...

I have some questions I cant seem to find the answer to 1) Where are the other photos'. 5/6 were taken of it apparently. Were they released? 2) Has anyone identified where the pic was taken near Calvine? 3) Who took the pics? Any names given?

I don't know the story all that well, but if they were that far away as per the pics above. How come one of the students said they got to within a metre of the "alien" ? I seem to be missing a bit of the story
