Yeah, I would agree with that. I think that the object is lacking detail but I don't think it's as noticeably out of focus as the trees are.

I don't think so. In his analysis he says the UFO is most likely what the camera was focusing on, and therefore the "sharpest" part of the image: But I don't recall him saying it was "in focus". ("Due to the sharpness" there means relatively rather than objectively.)
