    Explained: The Navy UFO Videos

All I can see is Bill mentioning that he talked to the pilots (paraphrasing here), "they think it it real". Then he says "what can we (NASA) do from a science perspective?, Thomas can maybe say something". And Thomas continues about NASA advancements in trying to find life using scientifically...

USS Omaha "Transmedium" Sphere Descending To the Sea

I think it perhaps good to link in your post to the video you used? Just more handy for the reader to check you. ;)

USS Omaha "Transmedium" Sphere Descending To the Sea

I wished the video was longer, because some large waves could also possibly obscure the blob temporary at the end of the video.. It would have been nice to see a couple of secs more after 59 sec.. https://www.metabunk.org/data/video/43/43690-7c6b9ff7bb56840f113b3dadc181392b.mp4

    2007 Costa Rica UFO

This video is to me one of the most useless pieces of "evidence" an ufo-enthousiast can bring forth.

    Skinny bob videos?

What I find more interesting about Skinny Bob is that he has a head the size of a planet, but still tiny weeny little neck muscles. It just does not make sense. He will have a floppy head all the time, struggling to keep this 10kg off mass upright. :D

Hypothesis - Rotation of Gimbal not caused by lens glare.

Good image. The key words here are non-linear angular motion. It is kind of a cosine effect. I think Daniel F forgets that the image needs de-rotation.

Hypothesis - Rotation of Gimbal not caused by lens glare.

Thanks. I have been saying this couple of times. There is an active DE-ROTATOR in the ATFLIR to make the image upright at all times (gimbal tracking makes the frame rotate). I am now too lazy to dig up the patent design drawings though.

USS Omaha "Transmedium" Sphere Descending To the Sea

Indeed. The blob cannot be resolved, as it is overexposure (glare). And the brighter the source, the bigger the glare. Because of this, most IR camera's (professional) have "multi-integration times", meaning that a ND filter is put in front of the sensor, whenever the brightness is above a...

NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

After reading your comment, I went back to page one of this thread to see the actual gimbal pod.. I think you are right. I was wrong in assuming the front window can move independently from the camera optics inside. Not sure where I got that from... So indeed the front window is not...

    COVID-19 Coronavirus current events

I am getting 1st shot on Monday. The vaccination programme over here in The Netherlands took off quite well recently, increasing in speed.

Glare, which is essentially stray light, is caused by micro scratches and/or dirt on optics (windows, mirrors, lenses, prisms), which makes the theory it is the outer window of the pod causing it, very plausible as that one is the environment facing element.

USS Omaha "Transmedium" Sphere Descending To the Sea

I think the black blob is over exposure, so getting a temperature estimate, even the most conservative, is impossible. It is not surprising there is no "colour bar" on the screen: these cameras on these planes are not used to determine the temperature, just for reconnaissance purposes. PS...

USS Omaha "Transmedium" Sphere Descending To the Sea

If I may.. The Laser Range Finder had no return of the "object", which means it must be farther away than the maximum range of the laser system, which is 30km (links are in this thread). This means it must have been much farther than the visible range to the horizon from the boat, which was...

NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

I remember this discussion, as i also actively hinted to the notion of the glare being produced by the optics, that can rotate around the optical axis. What I mean is that the "bump" of the whole frame is an indicator for it being caused by the optics/glare. Just wanted to point that out..

NYT: GIMBAL Video of U.S. Navy Jet Encounter with Unknown Object

Seeing again this gimbal video, why is the whole image frame jumping slightly at the exact same time as the rotations happen? This indicates to me that: either the camera makes a move at the exact same time the object rotates three times, or the rotation of the object is caused by the gimbal...

USS Omaha "Transmedium" Sphere Descending To the Sea

Indeed. The issue with these cases is that as soon as humans enter the equation, human interpretation will happen. And human interpretation is very subjective, which is contrary to what you would like in these (war etc) situations. But, it happens all the time, and hence, like you rightly...

    Explained: The Navy UFO Videos

Because these 4 pilots all have a different recollection of what they saw, didn't they? And one pilot even mentions all the time that she thinks her memory of the event can change over time and thus not very reliable. Personal witness accounts cannot be taken as facts.
