Debunked: Look-Up.org.uk Alleged "spray pipes" on A-320 are Pylon Drains

He did publish the emails from easyJet which confirmed what the pipes were. He seems to have removed them now though.

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

Tinypic was listed as one of the sites that work with that tag, but not to worry. Maybe you can delete the post with the broken links? Trying YouTube instead: Contrails out of the window at the back of the plane: And flying under another trail: I did also film a few seconds as we flew...

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

They were Tinypic videos which I embedded using the MEDIA tags. They displayed fine for me earlier but now seem to have disappeared. Is there some problem with the code?

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

Here is a video I took of the approach and landing to Gatwick, showing the wingtip vortices. The video is a bit shaky as it was rather a bumpy approach and I was not sitting in the window seat! (I've removed the audio as it contained personal info)

Explained: Dark contrails behind bright planes

Regarding the angle of the sun on the trail, I took this photo this morning from a plane at 38,000ft over France: In this case, both the plane and the trail look dark, but the trail is actually backlit, not frontlit. This is the best close-up of the plane I could get: which I think...

    Debunked: Look-up.org.uk's"Smokers" video

I took this photo from a flight today, showing a distant contrail looking black (it's pretty small on this photo, about halfway down the shot, with the plane below the lowest point of the wing towards the right). Both the plane in question and the one I was on were heading roughly northwest...

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

That video was filmed at 11:52 UTC today. FR24 suggests a possible candidate was this Transavia flight. I was on TOM9PX (TOM4657) which had just started its descent from 38,000ft at this point and would have been a couple of thousand feet below the Transavia flight's path as it crossed it...

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

I just flew back from Austria this morning on a Thomson 757. I was sat right near the back (row 38 of 42) and for a while I could see the contrail forming outside my window: Then a little while later we flew right underneath a nice persistent trail. I didn't see the plane that left this one...

    Germanwings Airbus Crash Conspiracy Theories

And never mind that 2014 was widely reported to be the safest year in aviation history. All the same this was an unsettling thing to be seeing on the TV screens halfway through a week's skiing holiday in the Alps :(

Photos of Clouds and Skies (That you took yourself)

I photographed the 2002 total eclipse in Australia through a sheet of metallised mylar foil - the kind that looks opaque silver unless you hold it up to a bright light. The total and diamond ring phases were taken with no filter (and total guesswork on the exposure!)

Photos of Clouds and Skies (That you took yourself)

You always seem to catch some great atmospheric phenomena on your trips, Matt! The sky here in London resembles a sheet of grey cardboard today, and I think it will be the same for tomorrow's solar eclipse :(

People who walk and stand after a traumatic leg injury

Watch the video of the skier I posted earlier. He had his calf sliced open, his hamstring tendon partially severed, and he got up, put his skis back on and skied down to the finish. And he didn't leave a "huge pool of blood" anywhere. There was only a small amount of blood on his leggings even...

How much blood should there be here?

He's not bleeding to death. That is why he is still alive.

Debunked: Boston Marathon Bombing: Karen Brassards "Lack of injuries"

I watch quite a bit of ski racing. At Beaver Creek last month Bode Miller had a nasty crash and the razor-sharp edge of his ski sliced a very deep gash into his calf. He skied down to the finish and you can clearly see here that there has been minimal blood loss. This screenshot is taken from...

So that actually is a "three-pipe aerosol delivery system"? :)

Yes. Yes he did. Ian Simpson - September 5th 2014 This is a legal notice and statement of intent to Metabunk.org / Mick West I formally demand that Mick West, or any other person, including the owner of the site, any employee and any members who posts on that website, remove any content that...

Debunked: Ian Simpson's Presentation at the 2015 Cambridge SRM Conference

What else? This... OK, this is what I call “induced cumulus”. Now, if you pump trillions and trillions of tiny little fibres into the atmosphere - and we think they’re around 2 to 20 microns - what’s going to happen? On days of high moisture, they will form cloud, and basically the pattern with...

Debunked: Ian Simpson's Presentation at the 2015 Cambridge SRM Conference

CO2 emissions are often referred to in shorthand as "carbon emissions"*, so I think his logic is "CO2 = 'carbon' = soot". He makes the same mistake when he tries to link Greenland ice being covered by "black soot" with CO2. * The two are different ways to measure the same thing. Carbon dioxide...

Debunked: Ian Simpson's Presentation at the 2015 Cambridge SRM Conference

Another odd thing about Ian's claims: he claims that "diesel... or some form of fossil fuel", or alternatively smoke, is being pumped into the atmosphere in order to raise carbon dioxide levels: Why on Earth would they do that? Simple: 400 parts per million. Fear. It’s what they’re trying to...
