Very nice @Rico. What were you flying? That reminds me, I was going through some holiday photos from last year and found these, taken from an early-morning BA flight leaving Lisbon last October. A nice variety of clouds and a few contrails in the distance for good measure!

If you zoom out a little you can see that this is just one of thousands of similar white patches in the water all over this area. I thought at first they may be ice but based on the latitude and the date (late summer in the southern hemisphere) I think they are just breaking waves.

Whether or not contrails form has no bearing whatsoever on the amount of pollutants emitted. So again, what is your point?
