Plane with Yellow Tail over Redding, CA [Polar Air Cargo Flight]

That was a rhetorical question for Igrokush. I know exactly where it was! ;)

Claim: New 9/11 Survivor Provides Explosive New Evidence

The first date with rain observed at the Central Park weather station was Sept 14. No details of amount of rainfall though. http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/New_York_City_Central_Park/09-2001/725033.htm However JFK airport does record rainfall amounts. There was 20.83mm of rain on the 14th...

Photos of Planes and Contrails (That you took yourself)

Looking at the tracks of those flights, the planes must have been round about 60 miles (100km) from you at the closest, possibly a bit more.

Do contrails form around low level clouds? [Generally not]

For reference, here is an unedited iPhone photo (full screen, no zoom) of a 777 flying at approximately 4,200 feet (and about 1.5 miles away horizontally). Imagine increasing the height by just 50% and you can see that a jet at 6,500 feet does not look anything like those contrail pics.

Plane with Yellow Tail over Redding, CA [Polar Air Cargo Flight]

Daylight Saving Time. It's equivalent to 2:11:57am UK time, but we are also still on BST (UTC+1). 6pm Pacific Daylight Time is 5pm Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8), so 1am the following day UTC. See above. I think it is a Polar Air Cargo flight, but it's the one from Tokyo, which was off its...

Plane with Yellow Tail over Redding, CA [Polar Air Cargo Flight]

You said "yesterday", which would make it 10/21/14. According to the file name on the photo it was taken at 6:11:57pm on the 21st: In UTC (which FR24 uses), that is 1:11:57am on the 22nd. Looks like you were right about the yellow tail! You were also correct that it wasn't a passenger jet...

Tree and other plant problems as evidence for chemtrails?

You seem to be confused about what Roundup is. It's a weedkiller (herbicide) not a "bug killer". Roundup-ready plants are resistant to it, so you can spray the field and the weeds are killed but the crop isn't. One of the reasons Roundup is such a useful weedkiller is that it is specific to...

Plane with Yellow Tail over Redding, CA [Polar Air Cargo Flight]

How far away do you think that plane was from you? Just by eyeballing it and from experience of identifying planes with FlightRadar24, I would guess it was at least 20 miles away when you took that photo. And probably about 6 miles up vertically too.

Plane with Yellow Tail over Redding, CA [Polar Air Cargo Flight]

This is very off topic, but Roundup (glyphosate) is not a "bug killer" (pesticide). It is a weed killer (herbicide). Roundup-ready crops are genetically modified to be resistant to glyphosate, so that you can spray the weedkiller and it will kill the weeds but not the crops. Now, back to the...

What are these? [Reflections and marks on window]

Look at around 41 seconds. Notice there are also some white marks appearing in front of the dark coloured winglet in the centre of the frame. They appear to move with exactly the same jerky motion as the black object. Clearly, all these marks are on the window, and the motion is by the camera.

Four Jets in Formation, Leaving Contrails

Image search brings up a few Italian sites, discussing a TV programme last week called Adam Kadmon – Rivelazioni. (Revelations) eg http://riprendiamociilpianeta.it/portfolio-item/adam-kadmon-perche-parla-mistero/ Trailer for TV series here...

Debunked: Chemtrail Plane and Other Unlabeled Photos from Facebook etc.

This photo, and variations of it, seems to be a favourite on Twitter and Facebook. It's pretty obviously Photoshopped, but I've managed to track down the component parts. The sky was easy: it's the classic 2002 shot by Dr Phil Leigh of Lancaster University that has been circulating for...

    Pre 1995 Persistent Contrail Archive

Discussion of contrail cirrus in the slightly odd setting of Motor Boating magazine, back in 1969, when it was thought that it would have a cooling effect. (It has since been determined that the net effect is a slight warming one.)...

Do contrails form around low level clouds? [Generally not]

Wow, that is just so ridiculous. Jets at 6,000ft look enormous, not like little silvery things. I would say that this guy has no idea of perspective, but I think, based on the very quick camera movements and editing, that he knows exactly what he is doing. He doesn't allow the camera to linger...

"If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it" ...commonly seen quote

I agree. As someone who did a chemistry degree, I find the amount of "chemical paranoia" out there quite depressing. The graphics like the egg one Mick posted are a clever rebuttal. There's a whole series of them for different foods.

Debunked: Anatomical impossibility of Jeff Bauman photos

Thigh bones don't go in a straight line from the hip joint to the knee. The ball of the hip is offset by some distance from the centre line of the thigh bone: in fact the entire thigh bone is "outboard" of the hip joint. Look at a skeleton: The hip joint isn't "on the end" of the thighbone -...

Do contrails form around low level clouds? [Generally not]

I think you are being misled by perspective. Because the cloud is distant, it appears that we are looking at the side of a tall cloud. It seems to me we are actually looking at the base of a large area of thin, rather flat high cloud.

Do contrails form around low level clouds? [Generally not]

Yes there are two distinct cloud layers there. It's a similar situation to the animated GIF I posted, with low-level cumulus below higher cirrus. I don't see any evidence of contrails interacting with those lower clouds, either. This is a case where time lapse, or just observation over a minute...

Pair of jets flying in formation? [Two commercial flights]

A short while ago my eye was drawn to two jets flying past at high altitude, seemingly in formation. They were flying a parallel course, seemingly at the same speed. Neither one was leaving a persistent contrail, but the front, lower plane was leaving a slightly more prominent one (shortly...
