And, oh yeah... I envy you for the view you have of the Magellanic Clouds and the Jewel Box/NGC 4755. I've never seen them.

I promise the cardboard thing is better. It's big and easy to see with a red-filtered flashlight. It's designed for that. Just start off slow, learn the sky. The stars become old friends. That's the advice I have to leave you with.

No, this is. Download and compare. This one is much less pixelated. We can see well defined borders between the scales on the wings.

This might be un-cropped. Closest to it that I can find, anyway. It's a 170KB JPEG. Low resolution... It remains puzzling to me. Maybe it's just an off hand snapshot. But for a Pro to take something this poorly composed. It would hurt my teeth. Why vertical? Why that lens? I'd use the...

So the camera would AF on this rectangle and ignore everything else? That's a low contrast area. Maybe not impossibly low contrast for the camera to handle. And it would also take a spot meter reading from this rectangle? That doesn't seem to make sense, as the photo is properly exposed, but...

Nice, but we're interested in the "wide" camera, not the ultra-wide.

How else to share? Imgur accepts TIFF up to 20MB. It says PNG files over 5MB will be converted to JPEGs. But a carefully cropped version will do. Can you set the ISO down or the shutter speed up? And we're interested in the wide angle lens.

-Interesting. So why are they going on about the RAW format version? They just don't know? -So there is a manual focus mode. And that's a built-in spot meter. My poor old handheld spot meter is long gone. -subject_area 2570 1506 747 752 How do we interpret this? It would be a very...

It's a new one on me. If I had any sense, I'd already be retired and would have time to learn digital photography from the ground up; and photo analysis to boot. But I haven't any sense.

Objects at the same distance as in the original would be good. But I suppose anything beyond the hyper focal distance would be okay. Hmmm, I'm not sure about that. How far would be enough???? I'll see if I can find a manual on how to select f-stops. There are only two, apparently. A way...

The Exif data is: hyperfocal_distance - 3.29 m I'm taking this to mean the hyperfocal distance for this lens while set to f/1.5. focus_distance_range - 0.28 – 0.72 m If this can be trusted, the lens was focused pretty close. About(!) 50 cm (19.7 inches). Depth of field (the zone which...

Great. You can test the accuracy of the Exif data. Specifically, the: focus_distance_range hyperfocal_distance

If you want to find out what it is you're really seeing, it's going to take some work. Some work went into this: Source: https://youtu.be/rUqsaa4gRJk?si=lxiAFHahuHeRay7B&t=27 The rocket body seems to have a regular rotation around a minor axis. It's probably not making specular reflections...

Sure, why not? The specular reflection of the Sun off a makeup mirror looks damn bright miles away during the daytime. It's a reflection of ... the Sun. And what about the Moon? How bright is that? The moon has two strikes against it. The surface is rough so we only get a diffuse reflection...

The iPhone 13 Pro has three different lenses - zoom telephoto, wide, ultra-wide, but only two sensors? I don't get it.

Claim: ''UAP researcher'' released clear smoking gun photo of Orb captured by photographer

So this is why the zoom lens maxes out at only 3x? There's no room in the case for more elements/a longer focal length, I'm guessing.

A discussion we should have: It seems to me after a few minutes of research that there are three different cameras. Each lens has a different sensor. The telephoto lens uses folded optics to fit into the case. Is this right?
