    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

I understand the calculation - I did it myself in the OP - but what I'm curious about is what you think is wrong with the source of the Mississippi being around 6000 metres further from the centre of the earth than its mouth?

    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

Sounds about right: in the OP it's stated that I calculated the difference at 3.72 miles, while the article I quoted had it at 4.12 miles. Still nothing wrong with either the geodetic system or the idea that rivers can end further from the centre of the earth than they begin though. :) PS I do...

    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

    I wonder where exactly? And - wow - I didn't know Jupiter's equitorial rotation is about 28,000mph. That's fast! :)

Indeed - if there was any foul it was mine. Cheers! :)

    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

Yup. I was just re-reading and was like, hold on, I'm just saying exactly what he just said - duh, he knows full well why rivers flow in the direction that they do. ;) Or, to put it another way, the rotation of the earth generates centrifugal force, which causes the earth to be an oblate...

    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

I'm not really sure what you mean by "the TGP=0 line" but, basically, the rivers in Florida, like everywhere in the world, are following routes from higher elevations to lower elevations, eventually reaching sea level. The compass direction they flow in is arbitrary - it could be any direction...

    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

I'm not 100% sure what you mean with this. Can you explain a little further please?

    Las Vegas Concert Mass Shooting

Hm. Well I wonder where The Telegraph is getting this from (as reported at 23.47 PST on Monday): Police said they recovered a total of 42 weapons belonging to Paddock, including 23 from the hotel room and 19 at his home in Mesquite, a small desert town about an hour from Las Vegas. Some were...

    Las Vegas Concert Mass Shooting

The Telegraph in the UK also published these Boston25 photos, and says about modifications: One image appears to show an assault rifle fitted with a legal modified stock, which uses the weapon's recoil to allow the shooter to fire rounds at a speed approaching that of a fully automatic gun...

Claim: First Image of Space Taken from V-2 Rocket Proves the Earth is Flat

Having watched the video, I'd say there are several places where curvature is evident - but also that it appears some lens distortion may be occurring. Or, at least, that it can't be ruled out.

Flat Earth debunked by measuring angles to the sun

Flat Earth debunker Sly Sparkane recently posted a video in which 23 participants in 9 separate countries measured the sun's elevation angle at solar noon on the September equinox. Naturally, when the results are viewed and compared with the two models of the earth, it should appear obvious...

Debunked: Iconic Charlottesville photo photoshopped; false flag

Absolutely right. As Deirdre screenshotted earlier, it can be seen in this video (at 38 seconds) being released by the damaged bumper: Marcus Martin can also be seen in Taylor Lorenz's video, from 2.08, which is 1m45 after the crash. At first he is seen standing up, and can be heard calling...

Do Ibiza and Mallorca prove a Flat Earth? [No, they demonstrate the curve of the globe]

It's like taking evidence in isolation. It's not difficult to find a long-range photo which, on the surface, contradicts the globe. But it takes a lot more than that to overturn reality. This is one of the more curious aspects of most CTs - that someone could watch hours and hours of space...

Do Ibiza and Mallorca prove a Flat Earth? [No, they demonstrate the curve of the globe]

You'd think so, wouldn't you? It's interesting that they genuinely don't seem to see that - or conveniently explain it away. But mostly they just seem focused on what they imagine should or shouldn't be happening on a globe. It's a bit like not seeing the wood for the trees.

Where online is debunking most effective?

I sure many of them do. Those things are addictive. If they've the time - and they most likely have - then why not? What better way to fill the hour of one's life? ;)

    Debunked: Rivers flow uphill

As pointed out above, that's not why the Mississippi flows towards the equator, but rather because its mouth (at sea level) is located to the south of its source (1475 feet amsl). It's actually kind of arbitrary that it flows "towards the equator" - it's simple probability that, of all the...

Where online is debunking most effective?

I absolutely agree with that. I guess the question is, if that's where the debates are happening, should debunkers be there? I.e., speaking in the language of the believers - video - even though it's not one we're necessarily drawn to? I must check that out. :)

Where online is debunking most effective?

Making videos. Exactly. I was thinking about doing some myself, but it just seems quite time consuming. I wonder, though, how a metabunk youtube channel might fair?

Where online is debunking most effective?

A question I've been considering for a while: given that conspiracy theories these days seem to be born and play out on youtube, is youtube the place where they should be tackled? That is, is making videos perhaps the most effective way to combat conspiracy theories and other flaws in logic? I...

Debunked: Iconic Charlottesville photo photoshopped; false flag

Oh, and in the photo that Deirdre posted, we can clearly see Marcus Martin's other shoe. :)
