    Baltic Pipeline Discussion (Current Events)

I've amended my previous post, sorry. But it's also clearly stated in my earlier post, note the second "that" (emphasis added): Or you could've looked at the claim itself, via the links I provided.

    Baltic Pipeline Discussion (Current Events)

We have a claim, properly sourced and documented, in posts https://www.metabunk.org/threads/baltic-pipeline-discussion.12685/post-281195 and https://www.metabunk.org/threads/baltic-pipeline-discussion.12685/post-281210 . My claim is that we have a claim, but that claim that we have is not my...

    Baltic Pipeline Discussion (Current Events)

Why did you bring up the check flight then? We have a claim of evidence, i.e. that a US P-8 was in the area that night, and that this proves US involvement. Properly sourced and quoted. We've been analysing that claim. Reuters corroborated some of the evidence (but says the flight originated...

    Russia and Ukraine Current Events

Can we call "Russia did it" a conspiracy theory with respect to the bridge explosion? Here it is: Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the [Ukrainian] President’s Office, said that the explosion that occurred at the Crimean Bridge on Oct. 8 is the result of a conflict between Russia's Security...

Claim: BRT/Buses has better capacity than rail

So, side question: do the bus capacities also equate to bus station capacity? do the Lincoln tunnel bus lane busses all stop at the Port Authority bus terminal? it'd be misleading to claim "look at all this capacity" when you can't get that capacity off the transport The Jackson Hts.-Roosevelt...

Claim: BRT/Buses has better capacity than rail

no, but it goes to show that one big vehicle every 5 seconds is not much for a through road—which is the only kind of road you'd route thousands of buses along. Living near a busy street car line wasn't as disruptive. Worst was living under an airport approach.

Claim: BRT/Buses has better capacity than rail

"Reconfiguring" a rail line is about as easy as creating a new suburb.... Traffic patterns (where people come from and where they want to go) don't change much over time. If you build a new stadium or a new airport, you might as well plan the public transport that's going to serve it...

Claim: BRT/Buses has better capacity than rail

Yes, where "maximum" is understood as "actual during peak hours". Note that they use "average occupancy" for automobiles as well, not maximum. ... on their carefully selected turf, with their numbers, buses outperform rail by 3%. For me, that comes out to "about equal capacity", which means...

Claim: BRT/Buses has better capacity than rail

I think it's uncontroversial to say that a bus system can achieve a similar capacity as a subway system. But it's hard to design a bus terminal that can handle this kind of flow as easily as a railway.
